About the Programme

The Malviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MM-TTP) is a flagship national initiative jointly launched by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The programme aims to train and upskill 1.5 million higher education teachers across India to ensure effective implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020).

MM-TTP focuses on strengthening pedagogical competence, academic leadership, research capability, and institutional governance, thereby enhancing the overall quality of higher education in the country.

Eight Fundamental Training Themes

The programme is structured around eight key thematic pillars:

  1. Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education
  2. Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)
  3. Academic Leadership, Governance, and Management
  4. Higher Education and Society
  5. Research and Development
  6. Design Thinking and Skill Development
  7. Student Diversity and Inclusive Education
  8. Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Core Objectives
  • Capacity Building: Enhance teaching, mentoring, and pedagogical skills of faculty members
    NEP 2020 Alignment: Orient educators toward contemporary educational reforms and practices
    Quality Enhancement: Improve standards of teaching, research, innovation, and academic leadership

Programme Categories and Duration

 

NEP Orientation & Sensitization
Duration: 8 Working Days (3 hours per day)
Mode: Online (Highly Flexible)

Faculty Induction Programme (FIP)
Duration: 1 Month
Requirement: Mandatory for newly appointed faculty

 

 

Refresher Courses (RC)
Duration: 2 Weeks
Requirement: Mandatory for Career Advancement Scheme (CAS)

Short-Term Programmes (STP)
Duration: 1 Week
Focus: Intensive theme-based skill development

Eligibility Criteria
  • Faculty members from Central, State, Deemed, and Private Universities and Colleges
    • Guest, ad-hoc, and contractual faculty members
    • PhD and Post-Doctoral research scholars for selected programmes
Application Process
  1. Visit the official Malaviya Mission portal
  2. Complete one-time registration with personal and institutional details
  3. Login to the applicant dashboard
  4. Select a Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC)
  5. Choose programme theme and preferred schedule
  6. Upload No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Head of Institution
  7. Submit the application (Most programmes are free of cost)
Career Advancement Benefits (CAS)
  • MM-TTP certificates are mandatory and valid for CAS promotions as per UGC regulations
    • Certificates are issued digitally upon successful completion of assessments (generally MCQ-based)
